Teen Acne

Teen acne is a disease that strikes over 85% of teenagers, yet most people have no idea
exactly what causes teen acne.  Teens face many problems and acne is one of their
major concerns.  Acne is one of the major problems teenagers face, it is something that,
in some conditions, may have a devastating effect on their social life, self esteem and
mental health.

One big problem is that some people do not understand the acne problem for the mere
reason that they never suffered from it, obviously this creates a terrible situation where
the teen is not only ridiculed for the acne he suffers from, he gets this from others that
very clearly do not have the problem.  Make it a point to talk to your child, acknowledge
the acne as a problem and work with him or her on solutions to make the situation better.
One of the best things you can do for your teen with acne is to take his or her concerns
seriously.

Diet (myth and fact)  One of the most common beliefs about teen acne is that it is the
result of an improper diet.  Physiological reasons (fact)  The real causes of teen acne are
purely physiological.  I was a painfully shy teen to begin with, so adding chronic and many
times severe acne to my situation only made me more self conscious.

I do feel that acne had a profound impact on my self image during high school, and
prevented me from enjoying my youth time and time again.  The difficulties associated with
acne aren’t fully understood by people who do not suffer with the condition and, as a
result of this, they often allege that their acne suffering friends are over sensitive about the
condition.  Having acne has nothing to do with what you eat or how often you wash your
face, two common myths often associated with this condition.

Now you know the facts and myths concerning teen acne.  In spite of what the majority
believe, your diet does have a tremendous affect on whether you get acne or not.  Fact is,
the external appearance of acne in teens and acne in adults can be compared to a
warning shot across the bow.

Like in adults, infant acne is manifested by inflamed skin with tiny and bumpy whiteheads
in the middle.  Some experts claim that infant acne is caused by the excess hormones the
baby has gotten from the mother at the closing stages of the pregnancy.  Teenage acne is
mainly caused by the increased flow of sebum due to internal hormonal changes and a
wide range of products—medicated and natural—are available, such as topical gels,
cleansers, and creams and cleansing herbal tablets.

One of the best ways to combat acne is to try to prevent it.  To press the point home,
greasy foods are the primary reason why acne is so prevalent among teens and young
adults.  In sum, a written record may indeed shock us into action, and force us to get a
grip on the foods we consume; since we are what we eat.

There are many products available, which are specially formulated for the teen in your
home.
